The Brasserie at the London Mal

Simple British classic dishes, uncompromising in quality, generous in portions. You need a good square meal you think. You're in luck. Dishes prepared with a genuine passion for the local food heroes of London. You order steak frites and something Austrian from the cellar. While from the Butcher's Block a group of Square-Milers practice the dining art of covert cuisine from behind a clunky chain curtain. Shhh.

The Brasserie at the London Mal seats up to 60 people. When it comes to dining in London and Clerkenwell, take the underground.

To book your table telephone 020 7012 3700 or book online using the dashboard at the top of every page.

  • Private Dining Room

For dining with a difference, choose the Private Dining Room at the Mal London. This private dining room seats up to 14 diners - set against a wall of wine while the theatre of the night's dining plays out before you in the Brasserie.

  • The Butcher's Block

A quirky homage to the Meat Market of Smithfield, the Butcher's Block is the perfect joint for hiding away from it all for an intimate meal or your corporate cabal. With high tables and chairs and seductive lighting, all hidden behind a chain curtain, you're safe and sound for the evening, even with the Tramontina knife-fest that ensues when the steaks sizzle on to the table.

  • Daring to Keep it Local

We've always dared to be different. And always will. Head Chef John Woodward has hunted high and low but never too far away to bring the region's hidden food secrets to your table. Whether it's kippers smoked from that hard to find coastal hideaway or the to-die-for crumbly cheese from a nearby family run dairy. He loves it and embraces it 110%.

We dare to keep it local. How great would it be if everyone thought like John and his team. Wouldn't that make for an interesting lunch?

  • Our Local Food Heroes

Finally revealed. The local food heroes of London and the South East.

    Maldon Oysters

In July 2003, Maldon Oyster and Seafood Company were the first shell fish farm in the UK to be awarded Organic status by the Organic Food Federation. Since Maldon is less than 50 miles from London, most of the oysters are sold there. Billingsgate Fish Market is one of their main outlets but they also supply restaurants and markets throughout the UK.
