The Brasserie at the Birmingham Mal

Simple British classic dishes, uncompromising in quality, generous in portions. They've really pushed the envelope on this one you think as you peruse the menu. Local food from local food heroes - a dream that rarely materialises in the real world, let alone on your plate.

You head for lamb shoulder with a terrine starter and maybe some sticky toffee for afters. She goes for the Gressingham duck. A local bird with class you think. Meeting up close and personal over a partly polished plate of sticky toffee, she remarks on the previous bird reference as she steals the last morsel in a clash of spoons that only she can win.

Wine Tasting Room

The Wine Tasting Room at the Birmingham Mal provides a cosy corner to enjoy the noble vine in all its glory. You think you're a New World fan and would never touch a red, suddenly the Chef Sommelier turns all that on its head. Sipping on a Super Tuscan you muse on the perfect dining companion to accompany this cheeky red. The Sommelier replies the lamb, and with that you head off to make a last-minute reservation for dinner armed with your new found Tuscan treat.
