Housekeeper Olympics
The Award Winning Housekeeper

The HKO has been designed to recognise one of the hardest working departments in the hotel.
Rooms generate the most sales and profit for the company but often the team get the least recognition. In addition due to rapid growth it was designed to help drive consistency in brand standards, ways of working and the importance of the guest experience while staying with us. All put together in a fun and competitive way that now is a key part of our annual development calendar.
The first heats are represented by twenty six hotels which compete against each other in six tough exercises. The passion, commitment and determination amongst each of the competitors is always tremendous. Exercises on the day include a rogue room task, guest interaction role play and ‘who wants to be a winner quiz'. For the exercises all Olympians are advised to keep up a high protein diet, no alcohol, lots of exercise and sleep to ensure they are in tip top condition for the big day.
The finals are represented by ten hotels and latest winners and results for 2009 -
- 1st Place - Malmaison Newcastle
- 2nd Place - Malmaison Birmingham
- 3rd Place - Hotel du Vin Brighton
The next event will take place summer 2010 and we are proud that this event has been awarded the winner of the HOTCAT Award for Innovation 2009
